God Is My Witness – When Heaven Testifies

God Is My Witness – When Heaven Testifies

In Episode 8 of Through the Refiner’s Fire Podcast, Craig and Antonio continue The Testament of Our Testimony series with a bold declaration: “God is my witness.”

But what does that really mean?

Our Testimony Is God’s Story in Us

The episode opens in 1 John 5:

“Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God.”

This foundational truth reshapes how we understand testimony. Our story is not merely about what we experienced — it is about what God has done. When we say “God is my witness,” we are acknowledging that our transformation is affirmed by heaven itself.

The Victory That Overcomes the World

The hosts emphasize that overcoming the world is not achieved by willpower or religious performance.

“You cannot overcome the world by might, but by faith and by the Spirit of God.”

Faith in Christ — His origin, authority, and completed work — is the victory.

Key Question Raised:

  • How can someone claim to love God yet live contrary to His commandments?

The answer lies in regeneration. A new birth produces a new heart.

The Spirit, the Water, and the Blood

1 John 5 declares that three testify: the Spirit, the water, and the blood — and they agree.

This agreement reveals:

  • The Spirit affirms truth internally.

  • The blood testifies of Christ’s sacrificial work.

  • The water reflects cleansing and new life.

God Himself has established a divine witness system confirming Jesus as the Son of God.

The Witness Must Match the Confession

One of the most powerful moments in the episode:

“The witness must match the confession.”

It is possible to have church language, church clothes, and religious behavior — yet remain unchanged internally.

True testimony is not performance. It is transformation.

John 5: The Father Bears Witness

The conversation then moves to John 5, where Jesus boldly declares:

  • He does nothing apart from the Father.

  • The Father has given Him authority.

  • His works testify of who He is.

  • Moses wrote of Him.

This passage reveals:

  • The unity of the Father and the Son.

  • Christ’s preeminence before incarnation.

  • The divine affirmation behind His ministry.

The hosts clarify: only God can forgive sins, raise the dead, and give eternal life. If Christ does these works, the Father must be bearing witness to Him.

Faith Beyond Sight

Hebrews 11 reminds us:

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

The disciples did not always understand. Many turned away. But true disciples remain — trusting the character of God even when clarity is absent.

Key Takeaways

  1. Your testimony is rooted in God’s testimony about His Son.

  2. New birth produces real transformation.

  3. Faith — not sight — sustains the believer.

  4. The Trinity operates in divine agreement.

  5. The witness of your life must align with your confession.

  6. Christ’s authority is affirmed by the Father.

  7. Eternal life is found in the Son alone.

Final Encouragement

If you question your faith, seek Him.

If you feel distant, return.

If you doubt, remember: God has already borne witness concerning His Son — and whoever has the Son has life.
